"Drive Now. Text Later. Live Longer." is one of the road safety messages the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) will be promoting to hockey fans across Canada, as it assumes its role as the lead sponsor of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) for the 2014-2015 season.
Much of the IBC's mission through the sponsorship will center on how you can avoid becoming an auto insurance fraud victim. In addition, the Bureau has created a 30-second TV spot, stressing a "Don't text while driving" message, which will air on Sportsnet during the CWHL's first All-Star Game on Dec. 13. Ralph Palumbo, IBC's Ontario Vice-President, expressed how the Bureau looked forward to the partnership.
"We're proud to support the amazing athletes in the CWHL and pleased to have this unique opportunity to share our road safety messages with new audiences in communities across the country," Palumbo said.
Brenda Andress, the CWHL's Commissioner, also conveyed her appreciation for the Bureau's support, saying: "We are grateful to IBC for their partnership in promoting our league and women's hockey." She added: "Their support will help us further our mission to build hockey dreams and develop the next generation of women leaders."
Increasingly, over the past 10 years, IBC has spread its road safety message at fairs, festivals, malls and events all across Canada. The Bureau also makes use of interactive educational displays to educate the public on key safety issues and provide tips on how to protect one's personal property.
