March is Fraud Prevention Month: Some tips

March 16th, 2015 by admin

As March marks Fraud Prevention Month, it is important for Canadians to be familiar with how to detect and prevent auto insurance fraud, which is a significant problem in Canada.

Here are some tips from the IBC:

  • Buyer beware: When you are buying a vehicle, make sure to work with a reputable dealer and pay careful attention to the car's history.
  • Don't fall prey to "too good" deals: If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don't fall victim to scams, and always know who you're dealing with.
  • Have the car inspected: In addition to performing a comprehensive inspection yourself, you should also have the car inspected by a professional. They are trained to spot signs you wouldn't necessarily recognize, so make sure to take this step.
