More Canadians purchased cars in April

The CBC reports that vehicle sales in Canada grew last month, both in general and for several big-name manufacturers. As auto sales climb higher, an affordable car insurance quote is increasingly crucial to helping owners drive safely and confidently once they've found their new vehicles for this year.

This information comes in part from Dennis DesRosiers and DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, who said that total sales of light cars and trucks were 5.7 higher this April than they were in April 2014. That translates to 189,072 vehicles, including models from GM, Volkswagen and Chrysler, the latter of which experienced an increase in passenger car sales by more than 50 percent. Light truck sales rose by 8.5 percent.

CTV quotes John Roth of General Motors, who recently credited the company's trucks for increasing the company's Canadian sales in a company statement they cited. Of all the individual manufacturers, GM's sales increased the most between this April and last, improving by 14.5 percent.

"Our three truck strategy, offering the full range of pickups, from the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon to the full-size and heavy-duty, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, to meet customers' varied needs, has driven GM Canada to be the pickup sales leader for the month of April," he said. GM and Chrysler also saw high sales performance in the United States, the CBC adds.

Although this is good news for dealerships, consumers need reliable car insurance to go with their new vehicles, especially if these sales trends are set to continue and put more cars on the road. Owners who need car insurance in Sussex should contact Fundy Mutual to learn more about insurance options for their vehicles after purchasing them.
