Practice these fire safety tips

Fires are a risk year-round, including during the winter and spring. While you might think installing a fire detector is sufficient protection, there are other measures you should take. The Insurance Bureau of Canada emphasizes some of these steps:

  • Step 1: Create an emergency plan for your family. A crucial component of good fire safety and prevention is having an evacuation plan in place. In addition, be sure to practice this plan, so that all of your family members know what to do in the event of an emergency.
  • Step 2: You should inspect your chimney flues. You should regularly inspect your chimney flues. Your goal in this is to be sure there are no blockages.
  • Step 3: Be careful when cooking. While you should always be careful in the kitchen, exercise special caution when you’re deep-drying or cooking with flammable oils.

Follow these tips, and contact Fundy Mutual if you have any questions.
